Subject: PRECAUTIONS FOR FIRE SAFETY.

Kindly refer to the fire incident on March 08, 2010 at National

Foundation Girls Hostel, Rawalpinidi, in which six students died and seven injured,
according to the news of the Express dated 9th March, 2010 (Copy attached).

It is requested that the following precautionary measures/steps may

kindly be taken in colleges, hospitals, institutes & especially in Hostels for the
safety of students/staff and to prevent such incidents in future:
1. Implementation of evacuation plan.
2. Establishment of Fire exit routs and stair cases for emergency evacuation.
3. The window grills should be installed only on ground and first floor. Upper

Floors windows should be construct without grills.

4. DCP Fire extinguishers should be installed on every floor according to the

standards.
5. Installation of Fire Hydrants.

Looking for an earlier and favorable response.
