The floila’s flagship was the M/V MAVI MARMARA and the voyage vas noteworthy for the Isreel response which resulted in the non-compliant boarding of the MAVI MARMARA and the death of rine activists. ‘The CHALLENGER | and the CHALLENGER I never made contact with the Israelis. Instead, both vessels experienced steering casualties that forced them to seek refuge in a Cyprus port. The CHALLENGER I problems appeared to more severe in that the vessel took on water afer the bilge pump suddenly stopped working and the activists had to be transferred at sea to the MAVI MARMARA 70 NM off the coast of Cyprus.
