SCADA Processors and Controllers

Remote Terminal units (RTU); they are connected to sensors in the process and the signal

Programmable logic controller (PLC); they are similar to RTU. They also allow
communication from/to the supervisory system. However, PLCs have more control
capabilities since it can be easily reprogrammed for specific purpose. Also more
economical and flexible.

Human-machine interface (HMI); It is the device which display processed data to a

human operator.

With HMI, operator can adjust and modify with the process.

This process includes two-way communication in which the operator can interact with
the system.

HMI obtains data from the data acquisition server (software).
