After reading the article of Quennie Ann J.

Palafox entitled Historical Context and

Legal Basis of Rizal Day and other Memorials in Honor of Jose Rizal my admiration to our
National Hero become bigger. I visualized every words that the author saying about the events
happening after Rizals death. The naming of an award after our National Heroes name,
declaring December 30 as Rizals death anniversary and raising flags in half-mast to
commemorate the martyrdom of Rizal only shows that we have a big respect to our national
hero.
Many children today especially students thinks only that when its holiday there is no
class and rest day only. They didnt know that it is a special day because it is the day when our
hero died. When Im a child I also think on that way too. But after reading the article said, I
realized that the day why it is declared as holiday is to remember that it is the day when our hero
fight against the conquerors to achieve our freedom.
My respect to our National hero grow up. This article taught me that many people have a
big respect to our national hero and even to other Filipino heroes. We should continue the things
that our hero fought. We must love our own country because they fight to free this country.
