Ward Continues to Break Records and
Exhibit Leadership in the Race for District Three
San Diego City Council District 3 candidate Chris Ward today announced his campaign
committee raised over $150,000 in contributions during 2015, a record in total fundraising for a
City Council race in District Three at this point in a campaign cycle. With more than 650
individuals who have donated to his campaign from $5 to $550 dollars, it is clear Ward has
broad appeal. He also reported nearly $90,000 cash on hand as of December 31. Unlike his
opponent, Wards campaign continues to be based on grassroots neighborhood support.
Referring to the diversity of supporters, Ward said, Im thrilled that so many have expressed
confidence that I will provide strong leadership in District Three. I am talking to neighbors
every weekend who respond enthusiastically to my experience and ideas for our
neighborhoods.
District 3 residents want a representative who has a plan for addressing our citys homeless
population, investing in public safety, and improving San Diegos roads, sidewalks, fire stations
and water and sewer systems, said Ward.
Chris Ward is a longtime District 3 resident, and is very familiar with the challenges facing the
District. He has experience serving all communities within the district as Chief of Staff to
Senator Marty Block, and previously was an environmental planner for the firm EDAW. He
received his Masters in Public Policy and Urban Planning from Harvards John F. Kennedy School
of Government. Chris and his partner, Thom, live in University Heights with their baby
daughter.
