at the week

We are continuing to work on test taking strategies

while reading passages, fact and opinion and in-depth
character analysis. You may also see Main Idea &
details and Literary Elements. Your student should be
using the QUAN and PRESTO strategies at home,
especially when reading!
We are beginning to discuss thoroughly the topics of
Civil Rights and Black History Month. With that, will
be an extensive, timeline project that is due February
This week we finished i-Ready testing and now we are officially
in unit 5. Students will learn use an area model as well as the
standard algorithm to solve multi-digit multiplication. You can
help by encouraging your student to practice their basic
multiplication facts.

Parents, you may have noticed your students had a homework

assignment last week that required them to create a strange
drawing based on some rather arbitrary rules. The reason for
having them do this was to force the students to creatively
think of how a cell works. Over the next week, we'll be looking
at systems and cells. This will lead into discussions of the
human body and ecosystems!

Return all report cards signed ASAP. Send an email to the teacher you need to
schedule a conference with IF you need one. Please make sure you have signed
up for your Parent PowerSchool portal to view your students grades.
A family tree assignment in parnter with our CAPS residence Artist is due Friday.
It will consist of a family tree up to great-great grandparents and a story to go
along with it.
