Asalamu alaikum Dearest Parents,
We would like to thank you for your support and contributions to our newly arrived brothers and
sisters. The donation drive was an absolute success, alhamdulilah! As you are aware, the schoolwide, student-lead, initiative surrounding the collection of donations for refugees took place
throughout the month of January and concluded this past weekend. We were successful in filling
up both Ms. Elkestawi and Mrs. Haydars offices. A group of energetic volunteers came out on
Sunday morning to transport the items from CIS-AJ to the MFNS Clothing and Food Drive; others
spent the day humbly distributing and assisting our guests in gathering much needed items. It was
definitely a heartwarming sight.
To give you a general idea of what was collected by CIS-AJ alone, here are some numbers:
- 180 bags of clothing (also includes winter gear)
- 35 bags of rice
- 15 bags of flour
- 20 bottles of oil
- 30 bags of sugar
- 100 miscellaneous items (canned food, pasta, salt, cereal,
oatmeal, etc.)
- 1 stroller
- 3 boxes of diapers
- 70 toys
- 4 Superstore gift cards at $25 each
The items that were collected will have truly benefitted
those in need, inshAllah. We could not have done this
without tawfiq from Allah (SWT), our fantastic students,
and of course, your much appreciated duaa and donations.
Our month of giving to the Syrian Refugees is not over yet.
Please support Backpacks for Change by donating to our
GoFundMe account. This initiative is aiming to create as
many care packages for Syrian refugees as possible. A
range of care packs will include: school supplies for
children, hygiene supplies, and house hold cleaning
supplies.
