    40 LB Demolition Charge

    American Ordnance LLC, operator of the Iowa and


    Milan Army Ammunition Plants, can produce the 40
    pound cratering charge for the U.S. Army, Marines, and
    other State Department approved customers.
    USE: The 40 p
    pound cratering
    g charge
    g is used for
    cratering and ditching operations. Because of the large
    amount of explosive in convenient form, they may also
    be used in destroying building and fortifications and
    overturning bridge abutments.
    DESCRIPTION: The 40 pound cratering demolition
    charge is a watertight cylindrical metal container with
    approximately 39 pounds of H-6 explosive in its
    interior. A semicircular handle is located at the top of
    the container for handling the charge or lowering it into
    a hole.
