Wel com e to Alg eb ra I I C P

Mrs. M. Graham
Welcome to a new semester! I look forward to working with each of you as we investigate the
world of algebra a world in which some letters are really numbers and imaginary numbers
really do exist. Building on your work with linear, quadratic, and exponential functions, your
repertoire of functions will extend to include polynomial, rational, radical, and logarithmic
functions. You will also work closely with the expressions that define these functions and will
continue to expand your abilities to model situations and to solve equations.
As we make these discoveries, you will need a focused and inquisitive mind, a diligent work
ethic, and a positive attitude. Remember that I am here to assist you during this course. If you
have questions or need extra help beyond what is provided during the regular class time, please
meet with me during morning break (each day except Wednesday) or schedule an appointment
for after school (Tuesday Thursday) so that your concerns can be addressed.

Goals for Each Student:

Enhance your algebra skills
Improve critical thinking skills
Become an effective mathematical communicator
Develop an appreciation for mathematics
