Unit Paper 1
The big idea is as stated in its name is a big broad notion. When trying to comprehend
politics the big idea is supposed to be applied. Its where someone is required to think of
themselves as well as the well-being of others. As stated by Walker the big idea helps art regain
its purpose; to be used as a tool to communicate and not just as a skill or talent. Anyone
especially children can gain profound knowledge by applying the big idea to anything they are
learning thus encouraging them to think intuitively. The big idea allows and requires that there be
personal connections; this causes a meaning to be formed and thus create greater understanding.
The belief of the big idea is that if a connection between an idea and personal experience can be
made it will espier for profound thinking.
The big idea sounds like a great idea but when its put into use not everyone will be
engaged; in the same way students learn differently. As well as how they might be feeling that
day. The big idea of connections and identity can appeal to some and create great thinkers and
others might just regurgitate what the teacher might want to hear. Nonetheless just exposing
students to the big idea is beneficial because its another way a student can learn and help others
learn. They might even one day use the big idea and art to help others that might not comprehend
what they are trying to say. The power of art and the big idea should not be forgotten because it
has been in action ever since humans drew on caves.
