Human Resource Director,
I am interested in applying for the Senior Accountant position you have advertised on LinkedIn. I am
currently working as a Financial Controller for a communications company but I am looking for a change.
I have been employed there for 16 years and have been working as the Financial Controller for more
than 5 years.
I understand by your advertisement that you are looking for someone with a Bachelors Degree. I have
an Associates Degree and am currently attending Washington State University to complete my
Bachelors Degree. The experience I have gained in my current position is invaluable. I have undergone
a change in ownership of our business from one publicly held company to another. I oversee all of the
financial functions in our company report those results to our parent company using multiple systems. I
also supervise a staff of 6 employees and have a role in assisting the supervision of all administrative
staff throughout the company. I have been through 3 major financial systems changes and with the last
two I have overseen the process changes that accompany the software, making sure that we are
continually in compliance with SOX regulations.
In my current company I have worked my way up starting as an Accounts Payable Clerk and moving into
doing Accounts Receivable along with collections. Then I moved into doing the account reconciliations
and monthly reports. Working all of these positions gives me a very good understanding of the type of
person you need to fulfill your needs. I am also a fast learner when it comes to computer systems and
processes. I work well with others when team work is necessary and when working alone I am
extremely self-motivated.
