Dear Parents & Guardians:

My name is Chandler DeHaven and I am a student teacher for Mrs. Rhodes Life
Science class. Since I will be taking over the class teaching duties of class for the
next ten weeks, and because your child is in this class, I wanted to introduce myself. I
am a senior biology major at Bridgewater College and I will be completing my student
teaching at J. Frank Hillyard Middle School. Upon completion of student teaching I will
receive my Virginia teaching license in secondary education (6-12). I have been
observing Mrs. Rhodes for the past two weeks and now I will begin to take over every
class she teaches for the next ten weeks.
Mrs. Rhodes and I will sit down and plan every lesson that I teach to the class. This
is to guarantee that I am teaching them the best material to prepare them for tests
and eventually the Standard of Learning test. I will use her material as well as some
additional materials that I create to ensure that they are getting the best education
possible. There will be a great amount of labs and interactive activities in this class,
which will ensure that learning life science will be fun!
