Roanoke, VA 24019 540.353.7886 February 8, 2016 Dear Sir/Maam, Enclosed you will find my resume and application documents for an Elementary School Teacher position currently open. I will graduate from James Madison University in May 2016 with a Master of Arts in Teaching. I am now interested in applying for a position as an elementary school teacher at a local elementary school for the 2016-2017 school year. I completed my student teaching placements in Roanoke County in the fall of 2015 and had a phenomenal experience, learning an abundance about the career of teaching. During my student teaching and field experience, I had the opportunity to work with a variety of students from varying backgrounds. From these diverse experiences I have learned a great deal, but one of the most important lessons I have learned from my experiences is that all students are capable of learning. I am committed to help students learn, whatever it takes. I have experience designing and implementing whole-group instruction based on the Virginia Standards of Learning while differentiating to best assist individual students, small group instruction, and one on one instruction to best meet the needs of individual students. My time at Burlington Elementary School affirmed my passion and desire to work with elementary age students as I had the opportunity to collaborate with my cooperating teachers and other school staff members to best serve students. In jobs I have obtained previously, I was able to work with young children in a daycare setting allowing me to learn how to best care for children. This allowed for me to plan activities for the children, as well as implement discipline plans to ensure safety for all children. Throughout my student teaching placements, I was able to tutor a sixth grade student mainly in mathematics. This experience was invaluable, as I was able to cater to the students interests while planning engaging activities to strengthen the students math skills. After reviewing the qualifications for an elementary school teacher position, I am confident that I could offer experience, professionalism, and determination to fill your school districts needs and requirements. I would appreciate the chance to further discuss my experiences and qualifications with you; I am typically available via email (snappsl@yahoo.com) or phone (540.353.7886). Thank you for taking the time to review my cover letter and resume to consider my application. Sincerely, Stephanie L. Snapp
