Tams Andrs to play at Piedmont Performing Arts Center this month
GREENSBORO, Nov. 5 The North Carolina Hungarian Music Association, a nonprofit organization supporting local Hungarian musicians and teachers, announced today an
upcoming concert at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 27 at the Piedmont Performing Arts Center.
The concert will feature the North Carolina Symphony accompanied by the worldfamous violin soloist, Tams Andrs. The symphony will be playing various compositions from
Brahams and Stravinsky. Additionally, Andrs and the North Carolina Symphony will play
together for the first time with the premiere performance of the night featuring Vivaldis beloved
composition, The Fifth Season.
Andrs, originally from Budapest, started violin at a young age and was influenced by
teachers such as the critically acclaimed Gyrgy Pauk and Ruggiero Ricci. Andrs studied at the
Franz Liszt Academy of Music and the Royal Academy of Music in London before becoming a
professional soloist.
Andrs has performed with a wide array of symphonies including the Budapest
Philharmonic Orchestra, the Ukraine National Symphony and the London Mozart Players.
Tickets for the concert are available for purchase at the PPCA box office or by calling the
association office at 336-178-8991. Tickets range from $25 to $50 with seating on the main floor,
orchestra section, and the balcony. Students with valid ID will receive tickets half off.

The North Carolina Hungarian Music Association has 2,155 members and is committed to
promoting Hungarian music in North Carolina. Each year, the organization receives generous
donations, including a $255,500 donation from Volvo. The association supports a variety of
musical activities in addition to collaborative concerts such as school visits with HungarianAmerican musicians and teachers.
