Equations
in mathematics, anequation is an equality containing
one or more variables.
Solving the equationconsists of determining which
values of the variables make the equality true.
An example is like solve for x and it shows something
like x=5*25(86-18) and then you solve.
You solve it by using order of operations for example:
X= 26(354*34)98+74

Expressions
Expressions are mathematical phrases that contain ordinary numbers,
variables, and operators
Some expressions are: a + 1 = 23 , 17 + a +78 = 243, and 3x + 5 = 20
You solve equations by either
Clearing out any fractions by Multiplying every term by the bottom parts.
Add or Subtract the same value from both sides.
Divide every term by the same nonzero value.
Combine Like Terms.
Factor.
and Expanding (the opposite of factoring)

inequalities
. Aninequalityis like an equation that uses symbols for "less than"(<) and
"greater than"(>) where an equation uses a symbol for "is equal to" (=).
An example of an inequality is x > 3.
To show the inequality you can show it on a number line like this
When a symbol like is used it means that the variable, in this case x, is
less than or equal to the other number.
It is almost the complete opposite for this
Symbol : . That symbol means that the variable,
In this case x, is greater than or equal to the other
numbers

Number lines
anumber lineis a straightlinewith a "zero" point in the
middle, with positive and negativenumberslisted on
either side of zero and going on indefinitely.
Number lines can be used to solve inequalities as you
can see on the inequalities slide
You can also find where your number like a fraction or
decimal is located on a number line like 3.2 or -3.5
