ESSAY: Which facility should receive money from local authorities?

Local authorities need to invest money on many facilities such as sport centers,
museums or public gardens, although there are some of them that are more
important for several reasons. In this essay I will discuss why it is better for local
authorities to invest money on sports centers rather than on museums.
On the one hand, participation in sports is extremely important. Children and young
people in particular need to do sport so that they develop good habits that they can
continue into adulthood. Furthermore, exercising allows people to develop personally.
Social and communication can be learnt and developed through sport. Thats why
local authorities should invest on sports centers such as gyms, basketball courts or
sports halls where people, apart from improving their health and fitness, they will
improve their communication skills.
On the other hand, even though considering an important culture development, the
money provided to museums must be invested by other organizations related with
artworks or private equity. Turning on the time people invest on visiting museums is
less than the time invested on exercising. In the same way sports allow people to
develop themselves, visiting museums also allows them to do the same but with a
crucial difference: cultural enrichment acquired on museums is personal whereas
exercising on sport centers implies a healthy socialization between people.
In short, its true that both facilities contribute something beneficial to people, but I
would highlight that the fact that exercising on sports centers is good for us is
completely undeniable because it helps our minds and bodies, and ultimately means
that we will be living longer, happier lives. So thats why local authorities have to
invest money on sport centers.
