Re:
Removal of endorsement and Retraction of allegation of corruption of Nueces County
Sheriffs Office employees
Mr. Olivarez,
It has come to the attention of the Nueces County Sheriffs Officers Association (NCSOA)
that your election website has the NCSOA Logo, indicating that you have received our endorsement
or that you are a member of the association. Both of which are inaccurate. You DO NOT have
permission from the NCSOA to use any of our logos or our name in any of your campaign
advertising. At this time, NCSOA has not made an endorsement in the Sheriffs race. We
respectfully request that you immediately remove our logo from your website. Our association is
paying particular attention to this political race and we look forward to voting on our endorsement
after a careful review of each candidate.
Furthermore, your comments made at the League of Women Voters on February 4, 2016, are
of great concern to our members. Specifically, you accused employees of the Sheriffs Office of
corruption. We not only disagree, but believe your statement was made without any factual basis.
There have been no findings of corruption on the part of any employee nor is there a single
investigation concerning corruption. We have made great strides in raising the level of
professionalism in the Sheriffs Office. Based on the foregoing, nothing less than a retraction of
your February 4th statement, along with an apology to the men and women working diligently for
Nueces County, is in order to set the record straight.
I am hopeful that these incidents are not an indication of future misstatements regarding
NCSOA. If you have any questions or comments, I certainly welcome them. You can reach me at
(361) 290-0180.
Sincerely,

Jose A. Gonzalez
President, NCSOA
