Hello! Its hard to believe that weve

September

October Dates to Remember

already been in school for 1 month and

September is over. Ive enjoyed getting to
know your child and look forward to learning
more as the year goes on.

Heres what we are working on!

Language Arts: We have learned
metacognition, fix up strategies and
connections. These strategies help us to
connect deeper with the text.

Math: We are finishing Unit 1. We will take

text.
a quick assessment this week and move on
to Unit 2. Please go over your childs
homework with them and have them
correct any errors. This helps reinforce
concepts learned in class.

Science: In science we are studying

plants and animals. You may have heard
about our hermit crabs. We have observed
them and have noticed that they have
some interesting physical characteristics
and adaptations. This week plants will be
introduced and we will be looking at the
different parts and functions. When
we are finished, I will be sending home a
review sheet for your child to study for an
assessment check.

During this week your child will be
highlighted in the classroom and school.
Also, kids will eat lunch with Mrs. Thelen on
Wednesdays.

Classroom Volunteer
Ive had a few parents ask to
volunteer. I am finalizing our
schedule. Look for a sign up genius
soon! Also, make sure you have
filled out a consent form to
volunteer.
We are working hard on following classroom rules for
3rd grade! Every day we start on green (ready to
learn). Please take time to go over your childs day
each night and sign the sheet. The planner is part of
their homework grade for responsibility. This needs
to go back and forth daily.
