the ladle analysis of the bars supplied;
{b) the carbon equivalent value;
{c) the results of the tensile, bend and rebend tests on. samples taken from the
materfal; the tensile test results shall include the cross-sectional area; and
(4) the identification mark for the materials supplied.
16. SPECIMENS FOR TESTS FOR MECHANICAL PROPERTIES
16.1 Selection Of Test Samples
16.1.1 For the tensile, bend and rebend tests, samples shall be 600 mm long or 20 times the
nominal size, whichever is the greater.
16.1.2 Samples for the bend and rebend tests shall not be selected from the same bar.
16.1.3 Samples shat! be selected from each batch at a frequency not less than that specified
in Table 6 provided that, if a batch comprises bars from more than one cast, at Jeast one test
sample shall be selected to represent each cast.

162 Preparation Of Test Pieces
16.2.1 The tensile, bend and reband tests shall be carried out on straight pieces in the
as-rolled condition without machining or prior heat treatment. Any slight straightening
which may be required shall be done cold. Reduced section test pieces for tensile test may
be used in accordance with Subclauses 16.2.3 and 16.2.4,
16.2.2 Separation of test piece from sample. The method employed shall be such as to
cause minimum deformation and minimum heating of that part of the test piece to be used
for measurements. The best method Is usually by sawing. It the test piece is sheared or
flame-cut, an adequate allowance shall be left for subsequemt machining,
