I taught this class last semester

I have taught career development with injured workers training for new careers
I have a degree in Adult Education where I focused mainly on workplace learning
I have a degree in Communication Studies

4. POST-IT NOTES ACTIVITY

Chart paper: Past/Current Jobs/Volunteer
students write on post it notes their past and current jobs and volunteer positions
and stick it to the chart paper
2 volunteers arrange post it notes putting like with like to create categories
volunteers then write titles on chart paper of the categories they have created
Chart paper: Future Jobs
same process as above
Ask volunteers to describe their categories
Ask for show of hands of people in categories
5. FOUR Ps of MARKETING (Handout)
ch. 1 (3 pages ) emphasizes that finding a job is a sales job
go over handout - GROUP DISCUSSION 10 min then take up some answers

Go over REVISED handout - briefly touch on each assignment
IN-PROCESS - explain what they are and DO # 1 (5-10min)
Self Assessment - chapter 2 is in DC Connect - Content - Week 1 (dont leave until
last minute because I will be assigning another assignment next week)
8. WEEKLY SCHEDULE (Handout)
first 7 weeks = 3 assignments; last 7 weeks = 3 assignments; In process throughout;
group project assigned week 4 - due week 11
Next week - In process 1 due; ch. 3, 4, job search booklet (in DC Connect)
will look at Career Research Action Plan assignment; research resources and
marketing strategies and tactics

there are no marks for coming to class
I want to use class time to prepare you to complete the assignments
Please dont come to class if you plan to wear headphones, work on assignments
from your other classes or if you cant stop yourself from talking over me or your
classmates
