On Monday, February 22nd and Friday, February 26th, 10th grade Carolina Alliance for
Technology (CAT) students will take the ACT WorkKeys assessment.

The Purpose:

ACT WorkKeys will be used to determine eligibility for the Disney Experience this
spring/summer. Students scoring gold on the ACT WorkKeys Assessment will be
eligible for a 3-day Disney Youth Education Series on Leadership & Teamwork.
The trip is funded through the grant and it will be a wonderful experience. We
want to give as many of our students as possible the opportunity to score gold.

What Score is needed?

Scores range from a Level 3 (Bronze) to a Level 7 (Platinum). To qualify for the
Disney trip, students must score a level 5 (Gold) on all three tests.

What areas are being tested?

1. Reading for information- These skills include the ability to read documents
and understand the information contained in them.
2. Applied Mathematics- Measures ability at performing common math skills.
3. Locating Information-The ability to understand and work with information
in the form of graphs, charts and diagrams.
Testing

ACT WorkKeys is a timed assessment, allowing 55 minutes for each section.

The assessment will be administered online using Google chrome books.

A basic calculator may be used during the math section of the assessment.

How can I help my student prepare?

Students will be given access to ACT Career Ready 101. This program prepares
users for the ACT WorkKeys. ACT Career Ready 101 helps set users up for
success by allowing them to take pretest and practice tests.
