    Obtain information from a poem

    By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:


    - Read the poem with correct intonation and
    pronunciation
    - Able to paraphrase each stanza using their
    own words

    ACTIVITIE i) Pre-reading activities:

    Read short captions on 3 pictures of a father
    figure.
    Question 1: What is the person doing?
    Question 2: Explain what is he doing in the
    picture.
    Question 3: How would you describe this
    character?
    - ii) Reading Activities
    - Reading aloud activity
    - The teacher recites the poem.
    - Pair work: Students recite the poem between
    the two of them.
    - One students will recite the poem for the
    whole class.
    iii) Paraphrasing Stanzas
    -Divide students into groups to discuss the
    literal meaning for each stanza.
    -The teacher initiates the figurative meaning from
    the whole class.
    Post Reading
    - Students will come out with a poem to

    appreciate their mothers.
