Recruitment is the process of generating a
pool of people to apply for employment to an
organisation.

Selection
is the process by which managers

succeed in the job(s), given management
goals and legal requirements.

1. Provide the organisation with a pool of aspirants
from which to select people to fill specific position
and not only that but also;
2. Recruit right people who will fit into
organisations job demand, culture and
contribute to the organisations goals and
objectives.

2 Sources of Recruitment
Internal
- Involves recruiting candidates within an organization to fill
the vacancy.

External
- Involves recruiting candidate through internet job ads,
social networks, referrals, radio/television commercials and
etc.

Selection Methods
The Three most Common Methods used
are:

1. Testing

Tests measure knowledge,


skill, and ability, as well as
other characteristics, such as
personality traits.

INFORMATION GATHERING:

Common methods for gathering information include


application forms and rsums, biographical data,
and reference checking.

3.

INTERVIEWS:
The

interview

is

the

most

frequently used selection method.


Interviewing

occurs

when

applicants respond to questions


posed by a manager or some other
organizational

representative

(interviewer).
Typical areas in which questions
are

posed

include

education,

experience,

knowledge

procedures,

mental

of

job

ability,

personality, communication ability,


social skills.

Final Thought
If

an HR person is trying to choose


people for an organization, knowing their
values is very important-if they are not
consistent with the organizations values
they are not likely to stay very long.
