Potrero is a barangay of the philippine highly urbanized city City Of Malabon in the province

Third District in National Capital Region which is part of the Luzon group of islands. The highly
urbanized city City Of Malabon with a population of about 363,681 and its 21 barangays belongs
to the urban areas in the Philippines. Potrero had 45,081 residents by the end of 2007.
Potrero is one of the barangays which are in the outlying area of Highly Urbanized City City Of
Malabon.
Barangay Potrero,from Spanish word Potrero meaning pasture land,is also the finest
place in Malabon City not Valenzuela City. Also the highest part ,higher than
Tugatog, the place is never flooded, is also the cradle of manufacturing and
industrial sites in Manila, pioneered by early hard working and wealthy Chinese who
escape and emigrated from China,during the communist inquisition of wealthy
Chinese capitalist in mainland China. These Chinese capitalist introduced plastic
,steel ,glass confectionery,and food manufacturing in the Philippines..other
mainland Chinese emigrated to Taipei, Singapore, Australia, Canada, etc.. During
the fifties businessmen prefer to lived in Potrero due to proximity to Divisoria and
Binondo, being the gateway to northern Luzon, since MacArthur Highway is only the
main highway then; in comparison to Japanese and American investors who did
business here, in which their profit were taken home to their own countries. The
Chinese profit on the other hand were re invested and assimilated here, thereby
increasing the Philippine economy and society. These Chinese businessmen, who
started in Potrero eventually prospered and established their business offices to
Makati for more international exchanges .and also transferred their dwellings to plus
subdivisions.
