USER METHOD PLANNING
1. Understand
a. Identify Problem: Parents of McCracken Middle School are looking to learn Google
Drive basics.
b. Analyze Scenario: Roughly 12 parents are looking to learn more information about
Google Drive for varied reasons.
Learner
Characterize: Parents of varying ages and varying learning styles.
Confront: Different learning styles and experiences to Google Drive.
Context
Characterize: All twelve parents will be ready with chromebooks, MACs, in a room with
a smart board projector.
Confront: Arriving a few minutes early to setup and meet parents that arrive early.
Content
Characterize: Two part session. First, is setting up and basics of the homepage to
Google Drive. Second, is learning the Slides, Spreadsheets, and Docs programs.
Confront: Any learning challenges, going through material slowly.
Educator
Characterize: Speaking with eagerness and enthusiasm about Google Drive, use
personal account as example.
Confront: Discuss beneficial ways Google Drive can be useful for everyone.
2. Structure
c. Create Targets
Goal(s): Introduce Google Drive to parents of McCracken Middle School so they
can create materials fluently.
Objective(s): Parents will be able to create a Google Drive account, navigate
homepage basics, and create items using Slides, Spreadsheets, and Docs.
Outcome(s): Parents will be able to operate Google Drive at an intro to
intermediate level.
d. Involve and Extend
Involve: Allow for parents to use Google Drive and its features to create items.

Extend: Present myself as the Adult Services Intern at Skokie Public Library as a
future resource.
3. Engage
e. Develop Materials
Message: Step by Step direction to use Google Drive.
Object(s): Smartboard will provide guidance on step by step navigation of Google
Drive.
f. Deliver Instruction Implement:
Capture & Sustain: Ask for parents to sign up for one on one tech classes as well
as other classes at Skokie Public Library.
4. Reflect
g. Assess Impact
Formative: Monitor parent questions as additional notes for future lessons.
Summative: Parents will be asked to fill out a Skokie Public Library program evaluation
form to help enhance future programs.
h. Revise and Reuse
Revise: Notes from questions after the presentation, as well as the satisfaction survey
will determine what should be reused.
Reuse: Archive presentation materials for future development.
