SUFFICIENT RATIONALE INTERVIEW

To ask your subject:

What is the artifact being analyzed?

Why is your subject analyzing it?

Is your subject exploring a research question? (Hint: they are it might be hidden, so you
have to find it)

Who is the audience of your subjects analysis?

How does the subject believe their audience will respond?

To ask yourself:

Are you at all familiar with the artifact? (Hint: you are and should try to relate to the
artifact)

Is your subjects research question promising?

Does your subject provide an interesting or worthwhile reason to analyze the artifact?
(How do you let your subject know? Try it out!)

Do you think your subjects audience will respond to the analysis? Positively/Negatively?
