practice.

WhyDoWeNeedThem?
InmanyEnglishwords,youwillcomeacrosssomelettersthatarespelledyetnotpronounced.Theseunpronouncedbutvisiblelettersare
knownassilentletters.TheyoccurfrequentlyintheEnglishlanguageandusuallymakelifedifficultforthe
newlearner.Whydoweneedtohavesuchlettersinawordinthefirstplace?That'sagoodquestion,and
answersvary:Sometimesadigraphchangesrelativetothewordetymology.Somewordswithsilentletters
comefromaforeignlanguage.Rightnow,wewilltakeonlyacursorylookatwhichlettersinwordsareto
