CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT PLAN

Classroom Management Plan

Philosophical Statement
My classroom management plan is based fully on the use of positive reinforcement. I strongly
feel that in order to establish such goals for a classroom, work towards them has to begin on day
one with the first day of school. This is the perfect time to begin to plant the seed for the
respectful learning environment for all students to succeed in. The classroom should act as a mini
community in the school setting, where all students show good character towards one another
and materials. Character traits such as responsibility, safety, respect, ownership, and kindness,
are the key components of a safe learning environment. When all students are comfortable in
their community it promotes active participation and engagement in all subject areas.
Behavior Plan
Positive reinforcements will include student behavior in the sense that undesired behaviors will
not be recognized and desired behaviors will be praised. For every one negative behavior
recognized, two positive behaviors will be pointed out. This gives the students who are
constantly displaying positive behaviors the chance to shine and be recognized with positive
rewards and students who are not there yet a chance to be reminded of what the expectations for
them are. When only negative behaviors are noticed, it creates a negative environment where
students fear interactions with the teacher as well as perform poorly for the desired amount of
attention. When only positive behaviors are given that amount of attention, students will rise to
please.

Seating Arrangements
The teachers desk will remain in the corner of the room out of the way of instruction throughout
the entire year. Students desk however, will change monthly, giving students a chance to learn in
different areas of the room and work with different types of learners. This will give students an
experience from all angles and the opportunity to decide what they like most in partners and
views of the room. Students desk will be arranged in not only different locations, but change in
number of peers they will have in their individual learning communities. This will develop
students skills with working in partners, small groups, and large groups. There will also be a
change of scenery desk, which will face the wall of scenery backgrounds from all over the world,
where students can go to work independently if needed time to wind down or focus.
Classroom Rules
The classroom rules will be thought up by the students as a collaborative effort with guidance
from the teacher at the start of the school year. These rules will hang in the classroom for the
entire year to remind students what it is they agreed to and the expectations they will be held to.
Brain Breaks
Active brain breaks will be included daily, providing students with the chance to get out of their
seats and release the built up energy they have. This promotes a healthy lifestyle as well as
maintaining student attention and engagement during instructional time.
