The guitarist warmed up by playing a four-fret pattern up and down the strings for 10 minutes. They then practiced various chords for 15 minutes, combining different chord types in different keys. Scales practice followed for 30 minutes, going through major, Dorian, Phrygian, natural minor, harmonic minor and melodic minor scales. Arpeggios were then practiced for 20 minutes, playing major, major 7th and dominant 7th arpeggios while going around the circle of 5ths. To begin, I warmed up by playing a random pattern within a four-fret
span. This week I used the pattern 1432. I then played this pattern up and down all 6 strings of my guitar and did this for 10 minuets. Next, I did some chord practice. The chords I went over are Major, Minor, Major 7th, Dominant 7th, Minor 7th, Major 6th and Dominant 9th chords. I then combined these chords and played different chord types within different keys. I did this for around 15 minuets. Next I went over some scales. The ones I went through were my major scale, Dorian mode, Phrygian mode, natural minor, Harmonic minor and melodic minor scales. I broke the scales down into certain parts and played them in different orders. After this I used these scales to improvise in certain keys. My scales practice lasted around 30 minuets. I then went over three arpeggios. These were my major, major 7th and dominant 7th arpeggios. I broke them down and played small parts of them till I played the whole thing well. I then used went around the circle of 5ths with my arpeggios. I worked on my arpeggios for 20 minuets. I finished off by going over some repertoire pieces for 15 minuets.
