The Industrial Times

Child Labor must stop

A Young boy working in the harsh

Children as young as 6 years old worked
hard hours for little to no pay in the industrial
era. Zero dollars sometimes thats insane Children
worked up to 19 hours a day with only one hour
breaks. Some of this lead to the death or injury
of some people. Large and very heavy equipment
had played an effect until someone did something
in 1833 but the children were still paid a fraction
of what adults got paid and sometimes were paid
nothing
The treat meant of these children was
cruel sometimes the care of childrens safety was
neglected Thats a crying shame The youngest kids,
were not old enough to work the machines but
were assistants of the textile workers. The people who the children served would beat them,
verbally abuse them and have no care for there
safety. Lord Ashley said our children are being
beaten while we are watching we need to put an
end to to this anarchy . One common punishment was wearing a weight around the neck and
working if they were late or not working there
quota they would walk up the ailsles of the factories to show an example to the other workers.
Julia lathrop said this punishment to our children is destroying are children s lifes in the future we need to put this to an end.

May 3rd Tuesday, 1786

When Industrial era first came to Britain and the U.S there was a high demand for
child labor. Uh Oh Families started moving
from rural lands to the new cities. But when
they got there they couldn't afford rent unless
the whole family worked, even children. Then
the children were over worked and under paid
for long periods of time until people tried to
change it. I went to the mines and talked to
a few of the workers they had problems with
all the methane and they couldn't breath easily in the toxins. A man named John Buttle
had created the air pump that helped the toxins in the air get out but they were very expensive so some people didn't have any. The
workers also had bad lighting. They tried to
use rotten fish from there phosphorescent
glow but the smell was really bad. Patience
Kershaw was someone who was whipped in
these harsh conditions ,she said I would rather work in the cotton mills then in a factory. at least I wouldn't get as bad torture
there. Ladies and Gentleman this needs to
change. As you can see these children were
tortured for little to no pay.
