What Drives Me to Succeed
My name is Wilmar I. Martinez. I am a senior at the Academy for Math
Engineering & Science. Many people have many inspirations for their success; it
could be family, friends, coworkers, just people in general. Personally with me, my
family is my inspiration to succeed. I come from a family of 5; my father, my
mother, my sister, my baby brother and me. Each member of my family has their
own specific reason on why they are my inspiration. I will be the first in my family to
attend a post-secondary education. I currently am employed at Jiffy Lube I love
working on cars. Its a passion of mine. This is why I got a job at Jiffy Lube. I plan to
finish high school and attend Universal Technical Institute to progress my knowledge
more so I can be able to grow to be an ASE certified automotive technician.
Eliceo Acevedo is my father. He has raised me to have good morals and
ethics. My father taught me how to work ever since I was small. He always pushes
me to do better in life. My father is like the engine of a car. He is what gives me the
power to go. He was raised in a poor family and always tells me to be somebody
greater than him and my mother.
Sofia Acevedo my mother is great, outgoing, and a friendly person. My mom
works really hard to take me and my sister to school. She works really hard to take
care of my sister Amber who is diagnosed with Epilepsy/Autism. My mom inspires
me to reach my goals because I would like to make my mother happy by being able
to take care of her and my family. I want to give back to my mother for everything
she and my father have done for me and my siblings.
Amber Adalay Acevedo is my little sister. My sister is going to turn 13 years
old in September. Amber attends Carmen B. Pingree School for kids with Autism.
Amber sometimes misses school because of her seizures. Amber is my inspiration.
For Amber, I want to succeed and be able to take care of her.

My baby brother Angel is my brother that passed away when he was 6 months in
my moms stomach. Because of him, I want to do great and I know he is helping me
out through my life. My family is why I want to be better.
