Life of Pi: The Better Story

Due date: Monday, March 9th

At the end of Life of Pi, the reader is left with the impression that the entire story
has been a lie that Pi has used to cover up the truth. However, as Pi says, You
cant prove which story is true and which is not. You must take my word for it
(Martel 398). Even though rational thought suggests that Pis second story is true,
there is evidence for each story found in the novel.
Task: Find 5 quotes that back up the story about the animals in the boat, and
5 quotes to back up the story about the humans in the boat. Make sure to cite
each quote properly. Explain why each quote is proof of that story.
You will receive 1 mark for each quote and 2 marks for each explanation, for a total
of 30 marks.
