silk needs cut out and duplicated for each student or class desiring to enter
this competition.
Decorated silks can be submitted by an individual student or from
a class (art class, kindergarten class, etc.).
Students will decorate their poster board silks anyway they wish . . .
derby, fancy, whimsical, colorful, etc. It is totally up to the great imagination
of the student(s). Any media can be used and is encouraged, however all
silks need to be cut out of poster board (craft paper, constructions
paper, etc. will not be accepted).
Each school will choose their top five jockey silks which will be forwarded to
the Board of Education Central Office at 1040 Highway 44, E or no later
than 3:30 PM Monday, April 18, 2016. These silks will be judged prior to
the evening of April 22, 2016 by an unbiased independent group of
community members.
There will be one winner from each level of school; elementary, middle &
high. Each winner will receive $50 cash. In the case of a tie, more than one
student will be awarded. In the event a class entry is the winner; $50 will be
awarded to that class.
Some decorated silks may be used as decorations for the evening of the
Run for the Spirits Gala annual fundraiser.
After the Run for the Spirits Gala, some of the jockey silks may be
displayed throughout the community after which they will be returned to the
artist.
Completed poster silks need to have the name of the student artist and/or
class including the teachers name and school on the back of the horse.

Please send a list naming all the students who submitted decorated a
jockey silk so they can receive a certification of participation for their
efforts. (Certificates cannot be made without a list of the student
artists).

Thus, the more colorful the better!

PLEASE REMEMBER: Deadline to submit decorated jockey silks to Central Office
is 3:30 PM, Monday, April 18, 2016.
