Verda James Elementary school entered the Pepsico Intraschool recycling challenge for a week to see which grade

could collect the most #1, #2 and aluminum cans. Each

grade collected recyclables in the lunchroom and some
classes brought in items from home. Verda James students
collected 1,358 items in 8 days.
1st place-4th grade students collected 393 #1 items,
37 #2 items and 83 cans.

2nd place-Kindergarten collected 151 #1 items, 31 #2

items and 241 cans.

3rd place-5th grade collected 49 #1items, 13 #2 items

and 86 cans.

4th place-3rd grade collected 114 #1 items and 33

cans.

5th place-1st grade collected 18 #1 items, 12 #2 items

and 81 cans.

6th place-2nd grade collected 4 #1 items and 12 # 2

items.

The winning grade with 513 total recycles was 4th grade.
They will receive a party in their room. Second place will
receive a snack for their efforts.
