The document proposes running 4-5 small-scale batches of 1 gallon minimum to determine important process parameters like the endpoint of stage 1 of propylene oxide feed, the optimal amount of potassium hydroxide catalyst, whether potassium hydroxide will work, the ideal pressure range, and whether ethylene oxide addition requires additional catalyst and how much. Several samples need to be taken during additions to monitor the reactions. The timing of each run cannot be accurately estimated until at least two batches are run to establish the pressure range, which affects reaction time.

Several small-scale batches need to be run to figure out few important parameters: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
Find out when is the actual end point of stage 1 of PO feed
How much KOH (catalyst loading) Will KOH work? What is the pressure range? Does EO addition need any additional catalyst? If yes how much? Need to know more about TEPA
The above are a few of the questions need to answered.
Suggestion: To run at least 4-5 runs on 1gal (min) scale to establish the process. This is minimum quantity, as we are required to take several samples during both the additions to monitor the reaction. Timing: Once we run at least two batches we can confidently say how long each run is going to take. It is not accurate to give timing without establishing pressure range, which will affect the reaction time. When can we scheduled to be determined by Dr. Ashok Moza Materials needed: Enough TEPA for several I gal batches We have PO, EO and KOH readily available Analytical Testing: Might be time consuming but certainly doable at any point.
