MARCH NEWSLETTER

Dear Parents,

Ted Geisel's (Dr Seuss) birthday

Is March 2nd!

This week is a tremendous week of creative fun with Dr. Seuss.

We will explore poetry, rhyme, creative drawing and much more! With
this class of creative students, I'm sure my creativity will be enhanced!
We will learn some wonderful lessons about honesty, service to others,
faithfulness, humility and kindness as well! The celebration will begin
on Monday. On Wacky Wednesday wear wacky clothes (backwards,
inside out, but warm and appropriate).
The rest of the month we will focus our curriculum on the studies
of the continent of Europe (Scotland and Ireland specifically), and St.
Patrick's Day. The end of March, and beginning of April we will enjoy
our "Young Authors" activities. Each child will need to bring a diorama
to school by Monday March 28th. The details regarding the diorama
and special day are on the next page.

Young Authors Conference April

1st
We have been invited to the Lower Schools Young Authors
Conference. It is always an exciting event where children not only
focus on a specific author and books, but expand their creative skills
through writing (As Lower School Students) and through art for
kindergartners.
We will be honored by the appearance John Steven Gurney. There was a
pre-sale of the authors books. Mrs. Mould sent a flyer and order form
home in your childs folder. This pre-sale ended Feb. 26th.
Each kindergartener will be making a diorama of his/her favorite book
or story at home. For this you will need a shoebox. The original book
should be brought to stand next to it.
Please help your child choose a scene from a favorite story to recreate. Please keep in mind our school rule that we not bring anything
into school that has to do with super heroes, etc. There are many
wonderful childrens stories, so please redirect your child if he/she
chooses to bring books that are not considered quality reading. Thank
you!
Your child may use found objects, small figurines, craft supplies or
paint, color, cut and glue! This is really a fun project and we all enjoy
seeing the finished projects displayed on our lockers.
The title, author and student name need to be printed neatly
on the lid.
Remember: HAVE FUN CREATING! Parental help when necessary is
acceptable.

28th.

Send your book box /diorama and book to school on Monday March
