It is my pleasure to write this letter on behalf of Michaella Magpantay as her senior project
advisor.
Santa Susana High School believes that our students should strive to be scholarly, skilled, and
humane. As a student in my AP English Language and Composition course, I came to know
Michaella as a thoughtful, focused student who cared about having meaningful discussions
about justice, compassion, and charity.
It is no surprise that Michaellas senior project continues to show her commitment to putting
her talents to use in service for those who are in need. For her senior project, Michaella
organized a charity drive to provide warm clothing to impoverished families. This project
required learning an entirely new set of skillsones that are not often taught in the standard
high school curriculum. She had to communicate and collaborate with adults in her community
and church as a responsible young professional and respond flexibly to the difficulties that arise
when trying to coordinate with several different organizations.
In the end, Michaella learned valuable skills that will make her a more confident leader in her
future education and career. She also provided much needed clothing to those in need through
the St. Vincent de Paul parish of Los Angeles.
