Summer Camp Counselor

Job Description
Hiring Supervisor: Kate Sigurdson
Direct Supervisor: Summer Camp Director
Date position begins: Training week of June 20th
Summerama Staff Training June 4th for those available
Camp Sessions: June 27th- August 19th
Application Accepted: Until position is filled
Wage Range: $9.15-$12/ hour- negotiable based on education and experience
Position Responsibilities: The Camp Counselor is responsible for planning and
implementing programs and experiences for children in small and/or large group
settings. Programs may include crafts, nature, music and songs, games, and sports.
They will also be responsible for the general safety and development of the
participants in his/ her group, identify and respond to campers behaviors in
appropriate manners. Communicate with parents about camper experiences and
reporting all concerns to Camp Director. Participate fully in multi-day staff
training. The counselors are expected to provide high quality outdoor, educational
and recreational experiences.
Qualifications: Minimum 16 years of age. Bring to the position a passion for
working with youth and ability to lead, plan, organize and implement age and
ability appropriate programs. The Camp Counselor must have strong
organizational and communication skills. Ability to work as a member of a team
and independently lead children. An outgoing personality with the initiative to
provide outstanding programming. Enjoy and appreciate children and value their
needs in a recreation setting.
Other Information: Must be willing to become certified in CPR/ First Aid and
AED.
