HAIL STORM
Definition :
Precipitation in the form of frozen ice pellets is termed as Hail.
Any thunder storm accompanied with rain & hail is called Hail-Storm.

COMPONENTS OF
DISASTER MANAGEMENT

HAIL CANNON
Ahail cannonis
apseudoscientificdevice and
purportedshock wavegenerator claimed
to disrupt the formation ofhailstonesin
theatmosphere.
A mixture ofacetyleneandoxygenis
ignited in the lower chamber of
themachine. As the resulting blast
passes through the neck and into the
cone, it develops into ashock wave. This
shock wave then travels at the speed of
sound through the cloud formations
above, a disturbance which
manufacturers claim disrupts
thegrowthphase of hailstones.

CLOUD SEEDING
Cloud seeding, a form ofweather
modification, is the attempt to
change the amount or type
ofprecipitationthat falls fromclouds,
by dispersing substances into theair
that serve ascloud
condensationorice nuclei, which
alter the microphysical processes
within the cloud. The usual intent is
to increase precipitation (rain or
snow), but hail and fog suppression
are also widely practiced in airports.
The most commonchemicalsused
for cloud seeding includesilver
iodide,potassium iodideanddry
ice(solidcarbon dioxide).Liquid
propane, which expands into a gas,
has also been used.Common Salt is
also used nowadays.
