To whom it may concern,

It is my pleasure to be writing this letter of support for Kayla Zobel. I have known
Kayla for over seven months and it is during that time that I have learned about
her passion for student affairs. As one of the Assistant Directors in the Center for
Student Involvement, I interact with Kayla on a weekly basis as her colleague.
With our team Kayla serves as a Graduate Coordinator overseeing the Campus
Assistant Center (CAC) and the Student Involvement Assistants (SIAS). Her
advisement and guidance is well-received by students because of her
professionalism, dedication and engagement. I have seen Kayla in action and I
know that she possess a strong skills set.
The way she intersects direction with reflection allows students to have a better
sense of their work and understand how that affects the student body. Her
supervisory style, from my prospective, is a combination of participative and
transformational. She allows the students under the CAC and SIAs to bring their
input into the overall goal of both groups. Plus, she encourages them to have high
communication and high visibility. Both styles strengthens the students ability to
grow personal and professionally.
As a person of color I find the topic of diversity very important, especially in this
field. Kayla has shown that she is capable of identify her own biases and the role
they play when working with multiple communities. Her profound understanding of
diversity and multiculturalism will allow her to engage students regardless of their
multiple identities. Working in this field for over seven years I have seen the
importance and understanding of such topic; I know she will do great at any career.
I love working in student affairs and it is always a pleasure to get to know
individuals who are in this field for all the right reasons. Kaylas passion,
dedication, education and willingness to learn about and from others are few of the
reasons I know she will do great changes in our field. I do feel fortunate to be part
of a team where Kayla has been an asset to our success.
Sincerely,
Jose Vazquez | Assistant Director
