The map that our group created was an interactive map that focused on the various
waste initiatives that Winthrop University has made on the campus. It addition to the waste
initiatives, the map also includes some transportation and water initiatives on Winthrops
campus. The website that was used to create this map was Scribble Maps. This website
allows people to easily create and share maps. However, to be able to receive all the features
on scribble map, you would have to purchase pro scribble maps. While creating the website
our group did run into some difficulty editing the map. Only one computer can edit the map
at a time, if you use multiple computers the changes made will not save.
The map we created has includes where Winthrop University has indoor recycling
and outdoor recycling. When you click on the icons it will tell you the waste initiatives it has
in the building. Also, the map shows where students can find bike racks on campus, the
location of the water tower, and the location of the storm water collector. Lastly, the map
shows where water efficient buildings are.
In finishing the map, our group concluded that using another map website that
would have to paid money for or hiring a professional will be in the Office of Sustainability's
best interest when making an interactive map. So that the map can have all the features and
information the office wants included in the map.

We took the class critique highly into consideration when re-shooting our sustainability video. One of the first things we changed was including exactly where to go to recycle
different items. We realized we were not as clear as we could have been when specifying
locations in our rough draft. We then tried improving the sound quality as much as possible
by getting actors to speak as loud as possible and to avoid noisy areas. Some parts of the
rough draft video were not decipherable due to the sound of wind and low talking voices.
We also re-shot the opening scene so it would be more student friendly. The original
rough draft video did not make it obvious that the character was a student. We also received
comments about shooting the video from more natural angles. We tried doing this to the
best of our ability, especially during the second scene when the character in the video is
walking.
We decided to make the scene where the main character turns into the recycling
police more dramatic. We also wanted to make reactions in the video more dramatic in
general so it would catch viewers attention. One of our comments was that the particular
scene was not easily conveyed. We also wanted to do some more close ups of the different
recycling facilities on campus so viewers can actually see and recognize them later. The
background music, while fun, was a bit distracting from the video so we decided to lower
the emphasis on it.
This time we made sure to include the Office of Sustainability logo because that was
a very important piece we were missing. We thought adding the Office of Sustainability
social media information was also a good suggestion so we did that as well. Another comment was to change the scrolling information at the end of the video, so we did that to make
it look cleaner. Overall we listened to the critique we received and hope it meets the Office
of Sustainabilitys expectations.
