Goal:
To present a strong teacher presence

Rationale:
It is important to display confidence when teaching. It helps the audience pay attention
and focus. This also helps with classroom management.
This goal relates to the following KSAs
7. Students needs for physical, social, cultural, and psychological security.
15. The importance of career-long learning.
16. The importance of guiding your actions with a personal, overall vision of the purpose
of teaching.

PSI Practicum Goals

Indicators of Success:
Appropriate response form students
TA and U of L Supervisor provide positive feedback in the following areas of the
PSI assessment form:
Assumes a leadership role in the classroom, taking charge of classroom
activities, showing confidence, poise, composure, and presence
Uses clear, fluent, and grammatically correct spoken and written language

Clearly defines and reinforces classroom procedures and routines


Clearly communicates and reinforces expectations for appropriate student

behaviour.
Creates and maintains an effective learning environment, setting high

expectations and standards for student learning.


Demonstrates initiative, enthusiasm and a commitment to the students
and subject, models appropriate behaviours

Reflection:
This is an area that I will continue to work. By the end of PSI I was
beginning to improve my teacher presence, but I still need to work
on it some more.
