The theme of this poem is moving on. The poem describes how everyone at one point must walk away from
what they love or are passionate about, in order to move onto the next chapter of their lives. The poem tells
its audience to accept the fact that they must leave what seems comfortable and move on in their lives to
mature and grow.

Lewis uses several similes to describe how he feels when his child was walking away from him towards

were walking away.
Commentary: Why like? Poetic Traits? Relevance / Connections / Allusions (Lit, Bib, Myth, Histor, Other) / Relevance
to personal experience, 20Qs? etc.)?

I find this poem extremely interesting because it shows a perspective of a parent watching their child mature
and walk away. I find this poem poetic because it shows how parents will always love and support their
children, even when they are experiencing pain. It shows love and the accepting of change in life. This poem
is relevant in everybodys lives. People are always walking away from something they love such as a sport or
a hobby. In order to grow, people must continue to make sacrifices and leave people they love in order to
mature.
