looks like a bump (n) then purl it.

beginning of the round.
Work 8 rounds in P2, K1 ribbing
Work 15 rounds in K2, P1 ribbing (your hat should now measure about 6 inches from cast on edge. If it is shorter than 6
inches or you prefer longer hats, continue in pattern until desired length).
Begin decrease rounds:
Round 1: (K2, P1, K2, P1, K2tog, P1) repeat a total of 5 times. K2, P1 (43 stitches remain)
Round 2 and all even rounds: Work even in pattern
Round 3: (K2tog, P1, K2, P1, K1, P1) repeat a total of 5 times. K2tog P1 (37 stitches remain)

Round 7: (K2tog, P2tog) repeat to end of round (16 stitches remain)
Round 9: Repeat Round 7 (8 stitches remain)
Cut your yarn, leaving at least an 8 inch tail. Pull this tail through all of the stitches left on your needle and pull it tight,
cinching up your hat to close it. Pull tail through a second time for added security and weave in ends.

No need to block, just wear with pride!
