Procedures:
1. Using the values in the circuit above determine the turns ratio of the transformer ( primary to
secondary)
______: ________
Primary Secondary

2. Using MultiSim and Downloaded circuit experiment 22 measure the following values with a
digital AC volt meter
a. Line Voltage input (V1)_________________
b. V AB Voltage Secondary (A to B) ______________
c. VAC Voltage Secondary (A to C) ______________
d. VBC Voltage Secondary (B to C)______________
(Though not shown in the schematic Point C (centertap) can be used as a ground. It
serves to spit the secondary voltage in half.

3. Using the provided circuit in MultiSim (Exp 22), measure the Secondary RMS Voltage VAB with
DMM
a. Record Output of VAB___________
4. Using the provided circuit in MultiSim (Exp 22), measure the Secondary Current
a. Record the measured current ____________
5. Using the secondary voltage VAB measured in step 3 and the previously measured primary
voltage, determine the turns ratio for the transformer:
a. Indicate the turns ratio ____________
6. Using the turns ratio determined in step 5 and the indicated secondary current, calculate the
primary current (The student version of MultiSim will give an erroneous reading).
Show your calculations. See Movies 7.2A and 7.2B

a. IP=_________

7. Activate the Oscilloscope, in downloaded Exp 22, and observe the outputs of Channel A and B.
You should be observing the two outputs VAC and VBC. Though they are identical when
measured with a DMM, what is different when measured with an Oscilloscope
a. State your observations_______________________________________

3. If the number of turns of the secondary increases, what will happen to the following values:
Increase
Decrease
Remain the same
________________Line or Input Voltage
________________Secondary Voltage
________________Primary Current
________________Secondary Current
4. If the resistors in the circuit were changed from 470 to 220, what would happen to the
following values.
Increase
Decrease
Remain the same
________________Line or Input Voltage
________________Secondary Voltage
________________Primary Current
________________Secondary Current
5. Determine the power in the primary and the power in the secondary using the values
determined in steps 4,5, and 6 and the previously measured primary voltage (assume
