Portfolio Artifact Description: Design your dream house- Using drawing tools create your dream house What you learned: I knew going into this assignment that creating a dream home floor plan would be a little more difficult than creating an ideal classroom. I was familiar with using lines and shape tools; however the concept of creating a floor plan seemed a little intimidating. This assignment took me out of my element a little but I enjoyed it. It was not as difficult as I thought because it was a floor plan that did not include furniture. I can see how this assignment could be related to technology in schools. National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers (NETS)-T Addressed: Standard # 2 Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessments incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in the Standards-S. Younger students could benefit from this assignment to learn perimeter and area. For older students, you could equate the amount of square feet to the actual cost per square foot. It would teach a valuable life lesson as well as continue to let students use creativity regardless of age.
