Phoenix, Arizona March 4, 2016 To Whom It May Concern: I am interested in applying for a teaching position in a Title 1 school in Phoenix, Arizona. I am currently in my last semester in the iTeach AZ program at Arizona State University and will be graduating this May. Upon graduation I will receive a bachelors degree in Elementary Education (English as a Second Language). I am currently completing my student teaching in the Roosevelt district at a Title 1 school with a high ESL population. My degree at ASU has prepared me to work in classrooms that are multilingual as well as multicultural. Unlike most universities, ASUs student teaching program is two years long. One year spent interning in various classrooms, while your senior year residency is student teaching in one classroom from August to May. Through these experiences, I have instructed students in 5th and 3rd grade as well as a 7th and 8th grade math class. My teaching experiences have prepared me for teaching students of various age groups and cultural backgrounds. I have also worked for City of Phoenix Aquatics since I was 15 years old. I started as a lifeguard, and was soon promoted to a swim lesson instructor. I began teaching swim lessons and programs at the pool when I was 16. I taught swim lessons for three years as a lead instructor before getting promoted to assistant manager. As an assistant manager I worked hand-in-hand with the program specialist and my instructors to ensure quality programs at my pool. Most recently, I was promoted to a program specialist. As a program specialist I have developed a new water safety curriculum for kids ages 7-17. I have also trained instructors and worked with managers to ensure quality programs at all twenty-eight pools. I have developed and maintained relationships with program participants and their families through pool visits and city-wide events. These experiences have helped me be able to work with all people regardless of age, culture, economic status or anything else. I have also had a vast exposure to developing a curriculum with block plans, and lesson plans, and working with instructors to differentiate based on their participant needs and equipment availability. Outside of aquatics I have had various experiences teaching dance and coaching a variety of sports that have helped me be prepared to work with all students and ensure success. I am excited for the opportunity to share these experiences with my students and my school, and I look forward to meeting you. Thank you for your consideration, Elisabeth Judd
