Alternative Energy

Jaskanwar Singh
Energy is the
ability to do
work, but if the
sources that
provide us with
energy are to
run out, then
how will work
be done?
The answer to the
question is simply using
alternative energy sources
that lessen the use of
fossil fuels that the world
depends so heavily on.
Sources of Alternative
Energy

Wind
One of the greatest benefit of wind power is
that it doesn’t produce any harmful effects
on nature. The blades of a windmill are
rotated when wind crosses the windmill and
as the blades rotate electricity is generated
by the windmills.
Sources of Alternative
Energy
Geothermal energy is heat
from within the earth. We
can use the steam and hot
water produced inside the
earth to heat buildings or
generate electricity.
Sources of Alternative
Energy
Solar power
 The reason for this is because according to statistics,
the total energy we receive from the sun every year is
approximately 35,000 times the amount of energy we
use a year.
The Effect on the Environment

Using alternative energy sources will

greatly help in the decreasing of the
usage of fossil fuels. One way of
decreasing the use of fossil fuels for
energy can come through using
electrical appliances instead of those
that run on gas and oil etc.
Cost and Maintenance
The setback to the usage of these
resources is the cost of maintaining
and running the utilities.
Without the utilities that convert the
resources to electricity and energy, the
resources would go to waste and not be
used at all.
Many countries today rely heavily on
the burning of fossil fuels due to the
cost of up keeping and maintaining
factories and power plants.
Today in America, about 180,000
megawatts of potential hydroelectric
