The History
The history of murals started way back around the time of the cave
men. Cave men would use this wall art to tell stories and date down what
they found and how to use things. Some people think that murals are only
pictures to represent stories but there not there here to tell stories of the
past to the present. The ancient Mayans would use this art to write
instructions for others, tell the stories of their kings, they would use this art
to pass down to their childrens children to carry on their ways. You see
Murals arent just for being a pretty picture their here to tell a story.
The story of Jesus was put on a wall. The story of creation wasnt just in
words if you look in our church we have a mural of the creation. Ancient
Greeks, they used this method to tell the story of their gods and his people,
just like we have used The mural in the opening of our school a picture a
painting of Jesus and the children of the world by his side.
The Roman Empire used these paintings to tell so you could put
yourself in the place of battle or the place of crowning. This art has been
around forever. Native Americans used this art on the hide of animals to tell
the future generations about the past to tell us how they lived to tell us how
they started their fires. I know this seems questionable sense this is coming
from a 14 yr.-old but this is my passion, this is what I do in my spare time. I
tell the story of me. And I have had my ups and downs but this is my time to

tell you about this fascinating art and why I chose it. I hope you have found
or have an idea about your passion, I have now its time for you too.

Modern Times
This art has now been used as a thing to represent a place or a thing. We can
use this art in many ways that I probably cant even list down because there are so
many ways of using this art. We can tell the story of our school, we can tell the story
of our teachers and students, and we can rewrite the story of Jesus, tell it and put
ourselves in that place of Jesus death or birth.
There are so many ways of teaching and I know this is a dying art some
people say its just too old of a style to continue it but I know we can continue this
art into the times of today.
I know youre probably thinking what about the people who do graffiti. Is that
an art? Well it is and some of us dont want to see graffiti on our trash cans or sheds
but, I believe if we can inspire the people who do graffiti we may have our next
generation of amazing artist. I know this may seem like a dream but, dreams can
come true. My dream was to be a Queen, a Rodeo Queen. It took time and it did
take blood, sweat, and tears, but it came true and if you fallowed my story on my
pageant yes I did compete alone but, in reality I didnt, I was competing agents
myself. To do better then what I did before. If we try this dream that may seem like
a dream can and will come true if we. Trial and error is a way of life and you know it.
Ive had many trials and errors but who hasnt. Leonardo DiCaprio is living his
dream, do you not think he hasnt had his ups and downs? Or one of my favorites,
Andy Biersack, he grew up bullied and teased for his long black hair and for the

music he listened to but, now, now he is one of the biggest rock stars out there.
Andy is my hero, my inspiration to live the way I want, do the things I never
imagined, and I give thanks to him, its because of him I am standing here to tell
you my dream. He has done so much to inspire others just like me to be themselves
to be the person they are scared to be.
Now yes you now thinking what is a Christian listening to rock. Well yes I
listen to rock and wear black but, does that make me a bad person? I dont think so.
I think Im just expressing myself the way I want to. If we just take a look at
someone and label them as a bad person or a good person without getting to know
them, dont you think were just being a little to judgmental. Now not many people
know this but Im someone completely different from what you see standing here. I
am actually someone would call emo but, thats just a label. A lot of people with
this label rather call themselves their name.
A lot of people are like that about art. Its just a label but, really, its much
more than that. Its more than just a picture on a canvas or a drawing on a piece of
paper. Theres a story in that picture.

My Project
Its because of Richie Geise that I was inspired to paint this picture of
this horse. Now I know, whos this Richie guy? Ive never heard of him before.
Well Richie is a musical cover artist. Now I want you to look him up on your
phone and take a long hard look at him. He wears black, listens to rock, and
wears makeup. What is the sentence that runs through your head? What is
wrong with Him? Is He gay? Why is he wearing a headdress? Well he is a
normal human being. To you he may seem different and wrong but, I look at
him and see a hero, a person that is being himself. To you it may seem just
like a horse eating grass but, if you look hard you can see feathers and beads
in its mane. It is owned by a Native American Hunter just waiting for its
owner to come back even though he wont because of the war against the
white man. Just standing eating grass. While its owner is captured in a
prison cell waiting and wanting to be free again to just see his prize horse.
The shimmers in the mane represent the sun is up and that the grass is still
there and now a skyscraper sits, just watching over the city until it falls. The
tall grass, the tall grass represents that before there were the miles and
miles of grassy plains that the mighty buffalo and majestic horse would
roam, eat, and play. The grassy plains is what started America. The purple
mountains is where the furious roar of the mighty Mountain Lion or the
soothing howl of the Grey wolf could be heard.

The copper tone of the horse fur represents the dry desserts where the
antelope lives or how the speedy road runner strides away from the sneaky
coyote. The story of the Native Americans and how the wild west came to be
was told on the back of a horse but, never told by one though. The mighty
horse is one thing people will never fully understand.
If the story of how America was developed was told by the soil under
our feet or by the blue heavens above, our history books would be a lot
different. If the horse told the story of the Revolutionary War, French and
Indian War, the Civil War, and World War I, the world would have a different
view on war. The movie war horse is told this way. This book/movie provides
us the point of view of the horse in war. Another example of this is in the
movie Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron.
Our history book are told by people and if these wars were told by the
animals, the machines, the vegetation around it the stories would be
different. If the donkey that Jesus rode, the cattle and sheep in the barn told
the story of Jesus the bible would be different.
These views would tell us different then what we are told. If my story
was told by my horses you would never look at me the same.
If Nelson and Blueskin, George Washingtons Prize war horses, told the
stories of the wars that they served in and how George Washington won his
battles. We would have different view on him.

Old Bob, Abraham Lincolns horse, would have so much more to say
about him and how he was beloved by him. Even in a horses old age they
knew what love was.
Thomas Jefferson had Carcajous. This horse was loved by everyone by
how easy it was to ride. Thomas enjoyed this horse until the day came.
Sea biscuit was and still is one of Americas most prized horses.
Another one is Secretariat is. American Pharaoh is the most recent horse that
has won the Triple Crown and will be remembered as the winner he is. If
these horses could tell their stories of how they became legend we would
have different views on them.
Elvis Presleys Favorite Horse, Rising Sun, was by far his favorite horse
to ride. He loved this horse until it died of Colic.
The most Famous Native American Chief was named Crazy Horse (HisHorse-Is-Crazy) and he was the Chief of the Oglala Lakota. He was 12 when
he caught his first buffalo and was honored as Chief when he was the age of
16. The monument of Crazy Horse is in South Dakota in Custer County. This
monument is a Sculpture of this Great Chief is caved in to a Cliff side and
was never finished because the Original artist, Kolchak Ziolkowski, died on
Oct. 20, 1982.
If you see my point, art is not just a pretty picture on a wall. It has a
meaning to it that people will never understand if you just label art as you

label people.
