Kiwanis Club of Mukilteo

January Student of the Month

Meagan Snively

Meagan is a senior at Mariner High

School. With a respectable 3.4 GPA Meagan ranks
106th out of a class of 412. She will graduate with
three honors or AP classes before graduation.

In addition to her school work Meagan has participated in dance at Mariner for all
four years, and has been in the Rhapsody Winterguard and Key Club as a junior and
senior. She is also the co-chair of the Graduation Advisory board.

Meagan participates in the community through her work with Youth Action Town, Not
for Sale, and for over five years she has worked with the Hands of Hope Food Bank.
In her time at Mariner Meagan has impressed many people with her abilities and
attitude. Here is what a few of them have to say about this remarkable young
woman.

Meg Troutman, Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher

Meagan is a very respectful and responsible student. She has a big heart and is
always willing to help out others.
Suzanne Metzler, History Teacher & Senior Class Advisor
I am very lucky to have Meagan as one of the 2 co-chairs for Graduation Advisory
Board this year. Her leadership, organization and enthusiasm have been very
helpful in the planning of motivation activities for the Commit to Graduate program.
In addition, I have Meagan in my AP Euro class. She shows the same commitment to
her education as to GAB. Her cheerfulness, sincere desire to learn, and sense of
work ethic all combine to present a young lady that I am always happy to see
walking in the door of my classroom.

Anna Huber, Dance Instructor

Meagan is both a servant and a leader in dance. For four years she has poured her
heart and her effort into the purpose of this program; her integrity as both an artist
and a young woman has influenced her peers positively while in class and her
audience powerfully while on stage as her heart shines through her movement. Ive
loved having her in class and am glad shes being recognized in this way.
Jeffrey Ferderer, English Teacher
Megan is fearless in her approach to life. She celebrates her passions with others as
she dances joyfully through her life. I love Megans honesty and compassion and
goodness. Her classmates recognize her compassion and goodness and honesty.
She models to all our younger students what it means to be good and kind and to
treat all with respect.
Jon Baker, Science Teacher
Meagan expresses a positive, collaborative, and energetic attitude in biotechnology.
All this, in a first period class when many of her classmates are still waking up. She
is achieving high marks and is a leader in her lab group. She is the kind of student
that always contributes to class and is a model for others.

Linda McDonald, Key Club Advisor

Meagan is a true asset to our club. From the first time she came to us last year she
has been right at the front of the line to sign up for whatever were working on.
Collecting money for UNICEF, food items for returning vets, coats and blankets for
the homeless, or racing through grandstands collecting money for the food bank
you can count on seeing Meagan and her smiling face. She has been a great leader
by example; we just wish we could clone her.
